To Become a Referee

How:
In order to referee at CFBSA you must hold a current USSF referee certification. To obtain a certification you must attend a referee clinic and pass a test. There are two clinics available for those wishing to start refereeing, grade 8 and grade 9. After successful completion of a clinic follow the directions under the title "For current Referees" to get on the list to referee for CFBSA.

Grade 8 Clinic:
Upon completion of the Grade 8 clinic the referee will be certified to referee games for the under 5 through under 16 leagues. In order to take the grade 8 clinic the participant must be 13 years of age prior to the start of the clinic.

Grade 9 Clinic:
Upon completion of the Grade 9 clinic the referee will be certified to referee games that are designated as "Indirect Free Kick" games only. CFBSA also refers to these games as "Small Sided Games". These games are typically recreation games for the under 5 through under 8 leagues. In order to take the grade 9 clinic the participant must be 12 years of age prior to the start of the clinic.

Find a Clinic:
Periodically CFBSA will host a clinic at the CFBSA Office. We will post a notification on the website when these is a clinic scheduled to be hosted by CFBSA. You may also attend a clinic that is hosted by another association. Information on clinics hosted by other associations may be found in the "Referees" section of the North Texas State Soccer Association website.
